Sans Souci is pleased to collaborate once again with our newest screening partner, University of Northern Colorado School of Theatre Arts and Dance! This 51-minute dance film screening features a diverse set of dancers and dance styles from six countries, specially curated for UNC students, with a talkback with SSF Staff to follow.

Inspired by Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese craft of repairing broken ceramics using lacquer mixed with gold and the belief that something can be more beautiful through the stresses endured. Seiwert asked herself: coming out of an era that broke many of us, can we be re-formed? Can we create something both stronger and more beautiful?

It is a search and recognition of the identity of fraternal twin dancers. We share similar genes, but we are also searching for our own unique identity. We have both harmony and conflict, similarities and differences between us. We Feeling the complexity of identity and the importance of finding one’s unique position. This is our dialogue with the environment, as well as our dialogue with our own souls.

The camera gaze is penetrating and almost permanent. but the 10 performers remain silent. Instead of words, techno music settles in crescendo as the performers try to convince us using their bodies as an extensive language of persuasion.

Sonia works for a cubicle rental company. Her passionless job chains her to a soulless screen where she mechanically executes tasks under the trance of neon lights, lost in the shadows of corporate servitude. When a fraudulent call triggers the void of her work station, Sonia’s pent-up frustration erupts, unleashing a storm of chaos, It’s the breaking point she’s been waiting for. Fraudulations humorously explores her descent into madness, through the endless, winding corridors of her workplace propelled by an uplifting soundtrack.

Eeny meeny miny humpy not your son nor your daughter eeny meeny rumpy-pumpy cling cling lamb for slaughter. Which species is the biggest predator? Behind seven lakes, seven hills, seven forests, there is a seemingly idyllic land. And in it, as if by magic, an unexpected meeting happens not only once but three times. The first time, as if from a flying carpet, we see an animalistic figure in the thicket. The second time, we observe a frisky animal herd colliding with otherness. For the third and final meeting, the moment when a man enters the ordered world of nature. How does the relationship between animals differ from the relationship between humans and animals? This is asked by the creators of the sixth choreographic film project by the Polish Dance Theatre.
